Westwood Youth Hockey takes pride in it’s goalie program. Westwood goalies receive a reduced tuition and have many opportunities to skate and develop their skills.
Players can register to be a full-time goalie or a part time goalie.
Westwood will once again this year use MassCrease to provide short Wednesday Skills and Sunday Goalie practices.
MassCrease is run by Brian Eklund. Information about the program and coaches can be found on their website at masscrease.com .
Goalies are encouraged to attend the following programs:
Sunday Goalie Practices at Boch Small from 2:30 to 3:20. (Mass Crease)
Short Wednesdays at Boch Big from 2:10 to 3:00. (Mass Crease)
Specific dates are listed on the pull down menu for Goalies under Teams.
Thursday Skills at Babson (Specific dates listed by teams - not on goalie page)
5:40 U10, U12 and Squirts
6:40 U14, Bantams and PeeWees,
(Run by Babson coaches - not as much goalie coaching as time to face a ton of shots!!!!)
The goalie should be the best skater on the team. Believe it or not they do more skating in one game than any forward or defender.
Power skating on Sunday mornings at Babson at 8 or 9 a.m. (depending on age level) is a great way to keep your skating skills sharp!
(No goalie skates for this please.)
