Code of Conduct
For Players, Coaches and Family Members
The Westwood Youth Hockey Association has adopted the following Code of Conduct to ensure that our program maintains the highest standards of sportsmanship. It is expected that all Westwood Youth Hockey participants will abide by the Code from the moment they arrive at the rink for games and practices to the time they leave. Participants include not only the players and coaches, but all family members, parents, relatives, friends and/or guests. All violations of the Code of Conduct will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of Westwood Youth Hockey for possible disciplinary action. While the Code of Conduct addresses a number of specific infractions, the overriding principle of the Code is to require players to show the utmost respect to their teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and spectators.
- Play for fun
- Work hard to improve your skills
- Be a team player; under no circumstances should players belittle the efforts of a teammate
- Your opponents deserve the same respect accorded to your teammates; taunting of opponents or other unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated
- Be on time for practices and games; this includes ample time to put on equipment and skates prior to the start of the game
- No profanity at any time
- Never argue with an official’s decision; if a player believes that an official has made a mistake, he or she should notify one of their coaches and allow the coach to discuss the issue wit the official
- Any player that receives two misconduct penalties in a season will have violated the Code and will be required to appear before the Board of Directors
